Wear Surface for the Bottoms of Drift Boats, Air Boats, Ice BoatsThe ProblemUHMW has become a very popular material for use in the drift boat and ice boat industry as a durable wear surface on the bottoms of the boats. Typically, 1/4" thick material is bolted to the bottom in large sheets which is labor intensive, requires drilling holes in the bottom of the boat and can add significant amount of extra weight. The SolutionAnother option would be to adhere UHMW to the bottom in thinner gauges providing more than ample wear resistance, reduced labor, lighter weight and no holes in the boat. Rivercraft of Norwich, NY utilizes a .030" UHMW tape on the bottoms of their rescue boats and ice boats to provide wear resistance and a good coefficient of friction. Other companies have used .062" and .093" thick materials successfully. Crown can also provide different adhesive options to customize the product for your particular application.
