Gravity
boxes are used in the agriculture industry to haul feed or grain from
fields to an unloading area. When the door is open to release the load,
grain flows down the sloped sides using gravity to generate the movement.

The Problem
Typically, a graphite paint is sprayed or rolled onto the interior substrate
to provide a slick, non-stick surface. After one season, the paint is
usually worn away, requiring the farmer to reapply the treatment each
year.

The
Solution
By applying 1.3 - 1.5mm adhesive-backed UHMW, farmers get a durable lining
that provides better release of materials. Two typical drawbacks - tedious
fastening and thermal expansion - are not problems with bondable UHMW.
It took only two hours to install the liner pictured. Because the entire
surface is bonded and held rigidly to the substrate, thermal expansion
is controlled.
Bonded UHMW is an ideal application for an industry where corrosion, abrasion
and release are major issues.
